George Phillip Puckett, 77, died on August 6, 2022, at his home in Wichita, KS surrounded by his dogs that he loved so much. George was born on April 29, 1945, to Lee Phillip Puckett and Elaine Gladys Puckett (Potter) in Cabool, MO. George had an older brother, David Puckett and younger brother, Mike Puckett. After high school graduation, he moved to Lawrence, Kansas to study Music Education and it was there he met and married his wife, Barbara Joan Rundle, on August 10, 1968. They welcomed two children, Michelle on August 2, 1969, and Sean on May 18, 1973. George graduated from Kansas University with a bachelor’s in music education in 1967. His first job was at Central Junior High before becoming a real estate agent. That followed with becoming the director of education for the Kansas Association of Realtors. George then accepted a position to become the Executive Vice President of the Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association in Wichita, KS in 1985. After retiring from that position, George worked for USD 259 as a part-time substitute until he fully retired in 2017. George is survived by his daughter, Michelle Christ (Puckett) and her husband, Mike Christ from Overland Park, KS. George is also survived by his son, Sean Puckett and his wife, Andra Puckett (Wilbert) and grandkids Braden Puckett, Blake Puckett, and Brinley Puckett from Wichita, KS. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.

  1. Thank you, George, for allowing me to live my life with your one and only daughter, Michelle. Your awesome dinners and fun trips to Eldorado Lake to soak in the sun. We both LOVED doing that in our younger years. Your love for dogs and your care for them brought many smiles and wagging tails. You brought up two very cool kids who are now very successful and loving adults. Thank you for your love and care, side conversations that only you and I know about.
