Bonnie Renee Griggs, 68, Retired Nurse Aide of Derby, KS, died Friday, August 26, 2022. Memorial Service will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 2, 2022, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Derby. Bonnie grew up in Wichita with her parents, her brother and sister. She graduated from West High School in 1972. She worked as a video editor where she met Ross, her husband of nearly 47 years. She wore flowers in her hair when they were married on a beautiful September day in 1975. She started a family in 1978 with Ross and raised four children. She raised their three boys and one girl in a log house near Andover for 20 years. She moved her family to Derby and has since resided there for 20 more years. She loved working as a school nurse aide in the Andover school systems for over a decade. The children adored her and would gravitate toward her because of her warm energy and compassion. She was a baptized Christian for much of her life and was a strong believer in Christ; passing down her faith to all of her children. Bonnie loved to travel and was well known for her love of life, but she always had a special place in her heart for holidays. She was the hostess with the mostest for countless family parties. The amount of joy and magic she created on Christmas morning was incredible for her children and anyone lucky enough to experience it. Bonnie was known as an amazing and loyal friend with the most contagious laugh; if she was laughing, everyone else would be as well. Bonnie had a musically talented family and she was, no question, their biggest fan. She loved to cheer for others and dance to the music. She never stopped getting things done with her abundance of energy that she poured into other and was a “second Mom” to many. She was a ray of sunshine who treated others with kindness and loved unconditionally. With this loss, an entire family has lost it’s centerpiece, it’s organizer, it’s cheerleader, and champion. She will never be forgotten in the hearts of so many. We love you and we can’t want to embrace you again. Preceded in death by her son, Lucas Griggs; parents, Robert and Bernadine Heitz. Survived by the love of her life and husband, Ross; sons, Zachary (Elizabeth) Griggs of Derby, Gabriel Griggs, of Derby; daughter, Angelica Griggs, of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Blake, Reese, and Jack Griggs; sister, Joni (Larry) Mingle; brother, Gary (Barbara) Heitz, both of Wichita. A memorial has been established with: American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Ste. 300, Rockville, MD 20852. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary.
