Jean grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, with her three sisters: Kathy, Patty, and Barbara, raised by her grandmother Mae Dola McCracken. She graduated from Northwestern, met Jerry, her husband of nearly 51 years, and raised two boys in Shreveport, Louisiana. They traveled all over the United States and moved 13 times before landing in Wichita, Kansas. Jean was an avid gardener who loved to cook. After her retirement, she published a book and continued to write. She overcame breast cancer and stayed positive while her husband overcame his health struggles. Jean was the happiest around her family, funny, and enjoyed sharing her love of musicals.
The holidays were her favorite, planning time to be with her family to enjoy food and share stories. Jean was a unique and loyal friend with the most contagious laugh. She was hilariously witty and loved everyone unconditionally. With this loss, an entire family has lost its centerpiece, organizer, and cheerleader. She will never be forgotten and always holds a special place in our hearts. We love you, and we can't wait to embrace you again.
