Ray E. Darlington, 92, Retired Mechanic for Hiland Dairy, died Tuesday, September 20, 2022.Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Pearl Darlington; brothers, James Carl, Donald and Marion Darlington; and sister, Dorothy Thomas. Survived by his wife, Irma Darlington; daughters, Diane (Harold) Wilson, Vicki (Don) Hamer, Eileen (Tony) Sheffield; son, Byron (Brenda) Darlington; sister, Edyth Weaver; brothers, Glen and Lee (Peggy) Darlington; grandchildren, Candy (Chris) Meinsen, Chelsea (Rob) Walker, Christa Bitner, Tyson (Linda) Bitner, Ashton (Liz) Bitner, Matt (Megan) Hamer, Megan (Daniel) Cruz Barrera, Nicholas (Ally) Sheffield, Kelsi (Justice) Voorheis, Ian and Pierce Darlington; and 19 great grandchildren. Ray served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean War. He attended and graduated from Pittsburg State University. He accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in 1957 and has been an active member of Countryside Christian Church since 1958. After retirement he participated in the Schweiter Neighborhood Association and the Linwood Music Makers. He enjoyed woodworking, helping widows with home repair, mentoring, working on cars and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family. Memorials have been established with: Countryside Christian Church, 1919 S. Rock Rd., Wichita, KS 67207; and Phoenix Home Care and Hospice, 3450 N. Rock Rd., Bldg. 200, Ste. 213, Wichita, KS 67226. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am; Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, September 26, 2022, at Countryside Christian Church. Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
