Virginia Ann Toben, 83, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on Tuesday, November 29, at Riverview Estates, Marquette, KS.She was born September 20, 1939 in Garden City, KS, daughter of Evelyn Payne. Ginger spent her childhood and early adult years in Garden City. She trained to be a hairdresser, but fate led her to a different occupation as an operator at Southwestern Bell. Southwestern Bell was the connection that ultimately contributed to the meeting of her husband, Les, when he was sent to Garden City as an unlocated lineman. They were married on January 25, 1963. They started their family as a family of 4, with sons James (Jim) and Timothy (Tim). From there they moved to Wellington, KS. Not long after, daughter Robyn was born. They lived in Wichita from 1968 to 2000 and then moved to McPherson County.Ginger was a traditional homemaker and was the heart of the home. She stayed active with everything from bowling to aerobics and crafts, too many to list. Always wanting to be a part of the fun, Ginger wouldn’t be left out and was always ready to join in whether it was waterskiing or snow skiing. Les and Ginger loved to hunt for antiques and hit the casino from time to time.Survivors include: husband, Les; son, Jim (Nancy) Toben of Wichita; daughter, Robyn (Bernie) Johnson of Assaria, KS; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
