Ray Albert Waller, 85, Retired Professor and Researcher, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, January 6, 2023, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.Ray was born March 4, 1937 at home near Grenola, KS to Clarence and Dorothea Waller, who preceded him in death. He attended a one room schoolhouse in Cloverdale and graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1955. He went on to graduate from Southwestern College in 1959, and then from K-State in 1963 with his master's degree, and in 1967 from Johns Hopkins University with a Ph.D. in mathematical statistics. Ray taught statistics at Towson State, K-State, and Williams College. He also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory for 20 years, and was the Director of American Statistical Association in Alexandria, VA from 1996-2002. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Waller, whom he married on July 23, 1960; his sons, Lance Waller, Jay (Jennifer) Waller; and his grandchildren, Allyn, Matthew, Adrian, and Haley Waller, and Olivia (Ian) Wallace. So sorry for your loss. I remember him as a good looking fellow and he still looks handsome.

Ray was a wonderful father-in-law for over three decades. He was a rare type of man because he lived his values every day. He was kind and a thoughtful listener. The grief is huge, but the gratitude for knowing him is so much bigger. My heart hurts with all who loved him.
