Richard Atherly Ramsey

Richard Atherly Ramsey, of The Heritage Carefree, Scottsdale, AZ, passed on December 31, 2022 at the age of 93 from pneumonia.Dick grew up in Wichita, Kansas where he moved, shortly after being born to Robert and Helen Ramsey in Gridley, Kansas. He earned a Masters in engineering from Kansas State University and served in the Army Corps of Engineers in the Korean War. He went on to have an illustrious career in structural engineering working into his 80’s on everything from Walt Disney World to the runways at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport. Through his life he was known for his humor, love of sports (especially golf), dancing, and love of family!Dick met the love of his life, Patricia Ruth Brown in Wichita. They married in 1954 and went on to have three children. Ron who resides with his wife, Mary, in Bronxville, New York; Greg and his wife, Cathy, of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Sandy and her husband, Avi, residing in Dallas, Texas. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2012. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers, Robert and Gerald; and his sister, Maureen. His memory lives on with his three children, granddaughter, and a large extended family.A graveside ceremony will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Wichita Park Cemetery, Wichita, KS.
