Ann Patricia Vincent

Ann Patricia Vincent passed into the heavenly embrace of her husband, Sam, on March 18, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born November 15, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, the only child of Chessley and Anna (Mattern) Herriford. She spent her early childhood in New York, moving to Wichita after the death of her mother. After attending school in Wichita and graduating from Wichita State University, she joined the Wichita Public Schools as a grade school teacher until her retirement.She married Sam Vincent in 1955, an enlisted man in the Air Force. During his military service they were stationed in Morocco and upstate New York, returning to Wichita upon his retirement in 1967.Sam preceded her in death in 1992 after 36 years of marriage. They had two children, Marc (Debbie) Vincent and Becky (Steve) Rindfleisch. In addition to her two children and their spouses, Ann is survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Ann was a lover of travel. She and Sam took advantage of his overseas station to travel in Europe. After Sam's death, Ann continued to travel on group tours and as a member of the Friendship Force, encompassing many international destinations, and she also hosted foreign Friendship Force members at her home in Wichita.Ann was a long-time member of East Heights United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice for Ann's end of life care. Memorials are suggested to either of these organizations.Private family graveside service will be held.Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
Ms. Vincent was both of my sons’ kindergarten teacher at Gardiner Elementary, Wichita, Kansas. She was one of the nicest and most caring teachers. All of the kids loved her And I was glad she was there when my boys started school.
