Margaret Reinbold, 84, Retired Communications Manager, died Monday, July 17, 2023. Memorial Service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
Margaret was born on November 18, 1938, to Glenn and Frances Dunlap of the Newton area. She grew up on several oil leases until the family moved to Plainville, Kansas, where she graduated high school. Shortly after, she married. moved to Wichita and started her family with the birth of daughters Dee and Karen. They returned to Plainville where Margaret worked for Southwestern Bell. It was there she met her husband, Chuck, who was in town working for AT&T and they married on August 30, 1974. After they both retired, Margaret and Chuck spent many years traveling the United States in their RV, seeing so many places, meeting so many friends along the way.
Chuck and Margaret eventually settled in Derby, Kansas and made their winter home at Sunland Spring Village in Mesa, Arizona. Margaret was active in the Textile Arts group there, teaching many classes in beading and rope bowl making, along with other crafts. She loved sharing her knowledge and skills, and teaching others was a source of great joy. She was a member of the “Nifty Niners” golf club as well. Her friendships there were so important to her.
Margaret was an artist extraordinaire. She mastered every craft she took on, including photography, painting, quilting, gourd artistry, beadwork, crochet, knitting, rope bowls… her legacy of craftsmanship fills our homes and souls from the best socks you could ever own to beautiful Christmas ornaments for our trees. She loved Agatha Christie novels and may have read them all. She enthusiastically loved the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs, even when they had very bad seasons. Most of all, she loved and cared for Chuck, her husband of nearly 49 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Frances Dunlap. Survived by her husband, Charl "Chuck" Reinbold of Derby; daughters, Dee (Curt Van Boening) Dunlap, Karen Gretsky, both of Wichita, Stephanie (Dave) Boyce of Carlton, KS; sons, Chuck Reinbold, Jr. (Jamie) of FL, Marc Reinbold of Salina, KS; grandchildren, Tyler (Jennifer), Alex (Daysha), Wendy (Shane), Beth (Bryan), Heather (Casey), David (Miranda), Marissa, Devin (Kelsi), Chaz, Nicole; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Armentrout of Wichita, Mary Sue Arpin of Apache Junction, AZ.
Known for her generous and giving heart and her wonderful smile, Margaret will be missed dearly by family and friends from across the country.
Our family was blessed with many special cousins thanks to the Dunlap brothers. Although not all are with us today those who do remain remember well the life of cousin Margaret. She was not the loudest, but probably the most steady of all of us.
Chuck, Dee and Karen please know that even though we did not see one another frequently does not mean that we will not miss her, we certainly will.
