Robert "Bob" J. Meyer, 83, Farmer, went to his eternal home, Wednesday, August 2, 2023. He was born on August 1, 1940, in Mt. Hope, KS to Wilbert and Irene Meyer. Bob grew up on a farm in Andale, KS. He graduated from Andale High School and attended Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. After attending college for one semester, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany for two years. After completing his service, he returned to Andale to farm and married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Hilger, on August 18, 1962, and celebrating 60 years of marriage in August of 2022. Though Bob was a life-long farmer, he was also very active in the Andale Community serving on the Sherman Township Board, Renwick School Board, and the Kansas Wool Board, and shared his many talents with the St. Joseph Catholic Church including many years singing in the Church Choir. In 1985, Bob and his family were selected by the Sedgwick County Commission as the Farm Family of the Year. In his spare time, he loved to attend farm auctions with a great love of the buying and selling process and spent many hours on the road with his wife or family members picking up or delivering equipment. He also enjoyed attending the many activities of his children and grandchildren including athletic events, music performances, theater performances, graduations, and miscellaneous other activities. Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia F. Meyer; sons, Robert (Phyllis) Meyer Jr. and Brandon (Jenny) Meyer all of Andale, KS; daughters, Carla (Joe) Scheer of Colwich, KS, Kim (Bob) Lee of Pratt, KS, Gretchen (Jason) Mitchell of Overland Park, KS, Amy (Lance) Marx of Andale, KS; sister, Mary Ann Massari of Spokane Valley, WA; twenty-seven grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert L. and Irene Meyer; brothers, James Meyer, Raymond Meyer, Edward Meyer. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 6, 2023, Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 7, 2023, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church - Andale. Memorials have been established with: St. Joseph Catholic Church Choir, 318 Rush Avenue, Andale, KS 67001 and American Heart Association, 8918 W. 21st Street North #248, Wichita, KS 67205. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
