Fredric Howard Cowart, II

Fredric “Fred” H. Cowart, II, 80, self-employed Artist, died Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Memorial Service 10:00 am, Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Grassland Estates, in the Chapel on the 3rd Floor, 10665 West 13th Street North, Wichita, KS 67212.
Fred was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a very talented artist, especially with mixed media. He started his art career as a petroleum map draftsman in San Antonio in the 70s, but his true passion was mixed media art later in life. In recent years, Fred had been involved in producing very detailed pen and ink sketches which record Indian petroglyphs at Three Rivers, New Mexico. This resulted in the publication of three interpretive sketchbooks featuring the rock writing of the Jornada Mogollon culture.
Art was the lifelong thread of his life, whether as a draftsman, educator, or mixed-media artist.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fredric Howard and Lera Frances (Smith) Cowart. Survived by his wife, Carol Ann Cowart of Wichita, KS. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary – West Chapel.
