Wesley Douglas Phillips passed away after a brief illness on August 26, 2023. Doug was born on August 11, 1954, in Espiñola, New Mexico. He grew up in Amarillo, Texas and Wichita, Kansas, graduating from West High School in 1973. He worked for Tennison Brothers Steel for forty-four years, retiring in 2019. He loved music and was an avid golfer. His voice and demeanor were quiet, but he possessed a sparkling wit. This caused his nieces and nephews to jockey to sit by him at family dinners so they could hear his quiet byplay of dinnertime conversations. He was a loyal friend and a loving man. He is preceded by his father, Jack Phillips. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Phillips; son, Bradley Phillips; grandchildren, Bryanna Phillips, Chris Phillips, and Autumn Phillips; brothers, Mark Phillips and Bobby Phillips; as well three great-grandchildren, two nieces, and three nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Believers Southern Baptist Church. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
