Patrick Wilson

Patrick Coulter Wilson passed away August 27, 2023 at his home in Leon, KS, after a long battle with glioblastoma. Pat was born July 19, 1974, in Englewood, Colorado, to Richard and Annie Wilson. The family moved to Kansas when he was 2 and he grew up on the family ranch near Leon. He graduated from Bluestem High School and attended Wichita State University where he was a pole vaulter on the track team. Pat began his coaching career at Southeast High School and Friends University of Wichita. He then coached pole vault at Wichita State for 16 years. During that time, he developed a bond with athletes that went far beyond just being a coach. Besides coaching, his other passions include fishing, hunting, movies, and spending time with his beloved nephews and niece. He is survived by his fiancée, Kambra Gallagher of Towanda; his parents, Richard and Annie of Leon; brother, Ed (Nayu) Wilson of Andover; sister, Gwen (Josh) Trevitt of Topeka; nephews, Coulter Wilson and Drew Trevitt; and niece, Joselyn Trevitt. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00, Friday September 1, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 123 N. Andover Rd. in Andover. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Glioblastoma Foundation, 2451 Croasdaile Farm Pkwy., Ste. 109, Durham, NC 27705.
