Marilyn K. (Higley) Nelson, 72, died September 1, 2023, at her home in Wichita, KS. She was born April 26, 1951, in Dodge City, KS, the daughter of Thomas and Nadine Higley. She was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and AT&T. Most recently, she had a long successful career at Fidelity Bank in Wichita, KS, in commercial loans. She enjoyed participating in the many charitable projects available through Fidelity Bank and had many friends there. Marilyn’s prize possession was her Harley Davidson motorcycle which she loved riding. She garnered an extended family she loved so much in those she rode with. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nadine Higley; three aunts and their husbands; one great-nephew; husbands, Mike Nelson and Daryl Holloway. Survived by her daughter, Melanie (Gary) Harshberger, and their children, Jacob, Jessika, and Josh, of Dodge City; son, Aaron Nelson, and his son, Keith, of Wichita; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Scott Williamson) Holloway, and their children, Samantha, Chatan, and Tyler; stepson, Travis (Misty) Holloway, and their children, Jacob, Megan, Donte, Shane, and Kristan, of Eureka, AR; sister, Judy (Wayne) Blackburn; nieces and nephews, Bandi (Jeff) Allen, Cindi (Chris) Thomas, Gini (Shane) Trent, Michael (Michelle) Rieman, Brigham (Deb) Blackburn, and their families; aunt, Phyllis Logan of Granberry, TX; and many dear cousins. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. There will also be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Marilyn Nelson to the Cancer Research Institute, 29 Broadway, Floor 4, New York, NY 10006-3111. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
