Sandra "Kasey" K. Malone, 87, loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, died Thursday, September 14, 2023 after a long, courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Kasey was born in Scandia, Kansas in 1936. She grew up in Belleville, Kansas and moved to Wichita in the mid-1950's. She met her husband Hal Malone at a ski trip in Colorado. They eventually married in 1959 and had their son Greg in 1960 and adopted their daughter Julie in 1968. After her children were older, she worked for many years at the post office within the Bank IV building in downtown Wichita, which she enjoyed. She loved to play tennis, stay active, and spend time with friends. Walking was one thing she enjoyed and did a lot of. She even continued to walk 2 miles a day into her 80's and continued to mow her own lawn up until the time she got her cancer diagnosis at 82. She was a member of the self-proclaimed group called the "Stitch and Bitch Club,” which consisted of a group of close friends who enjoyed sewing and being social. They had many good times together outside of the group as well. They had dinner parties with the husbands and camping trips to name a few. It was a great group of friends. She had a strong love of flowers and gardening and that was usually where you'd find her. Her neighbors have many fond memories of her out in her flower bed or taking walks around the neighborhood. She was greatly loved and will be missed by many. Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, September 29, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery.Preceded in death by her parents, Thornton and Dorothy Doctor of Belleville, KS; husband, Harold "Hal" B.
