Margaret Ann “Peggy” Schneider, 85, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Peggy was born in Home, KS. She received her degree in Fashion Design & Merchandising with a Minor in Music at the University of Kansas. While at KU, she met the love of her life, Norbert Schneider. They were married in 1959 and enjoyed 54 years together. She was always the homemaker, excelling in cooking, sewing, home design, gardening and more. She was a piano teacher for over 40 years, and the consummate hostess of events from piano recitals to special celebrations, to bridge club gatherings, and AFS Christmas parties. She was a strong proponent of, and tireless volunteer for AFS student exchange program for over 35 years. She did all of this with a smile on her face; she created joy and harmony wherever she went. Rosary will be at 10:00 am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 12, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Preceded in death by parents, Arnold and Marie (Norman) Zimmerling; husband, Norbert Schneider; brothers, Ronald and William “Bill”; and son-in-law, Clay Richardson. Survived by daughters, Suzanne Haag of Black Mountain, NC, Joani Richardson of Morganton, NC, Sheila Schneider of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Maggie, Jennifer, Zachary, Erica, Isabella, and Vincente; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Emma, and Leo Christopher. Memorials have been established with St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora, Wichita KS 67212; Heartland AFS Scholarship, c/o Teresa Vincent, 12605 E Lincoln Ct, Wichita, KS 67207; Alzheimer’s Association, Central & Western Kansas, 535 West Douglas, Suite 150, Wichita, KS 67213.
