Nina Mae Anderson, 77, homemaker, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 surrounded by her family. Nina was born and raised on a hilltop farm in Nora, Nebraska. At age 19 she married Alvin Anderson. In 1965 they traveled to Millington, Tennessee where they lived while Alvin trained at the USNAS. Then they moved to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina where their oldest son Chad was born. The next location was the wonderful island of Hilo, Hawaii where they served at the Kaneohe air station until 1969. She then returned to Nebraska and lived in Hastings, Harvard, Edgar, and Omaha, Nebraska. Noal, their second son was born in Hastings, Nebraska. In 1986 she moved to Goddard, Kansas and in 1999 they moved to their current home in Wichita, Kansas. Nina was a loving Wife, Mom and Nana. She adored her grandchildren immensely and loved to bake with the grandsons and sew with her granddaughter. As they grew, she enjoyed watching them at many football and baseball games. She was very proud of all their accomplishments and loved her family very much. Nina also enjoyed traveling with Alvin to visit friends and family around the country and a memorable trip to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Alaska and many National Parks. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Vigil Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, October 27, 2023, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Schulte, KS. Interment following at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, KS. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Gladys Farver, brother-in-laws, Walter Heyen and Kenneth Jones. Survived by her husband, Alvin Anderson of Wichita, KS; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Lorraine Anderson of Lincoln, NE; granddaughter, Ashley Anderson; son and daughter-in-law, Noal and Jená Anderson of Viola, KS, grandsons, Jacob, Nicholas and Zachary Anderson; sisters, Blanche Heyen and Ruth Jones; brother and sister-in-laws, Dexter and Carol Anderson and Neal and Sandy Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. Box 405, Goddard, KS 67052.
