Dottie JoAnn (Shimonek) Schiefelbein, 89, died Friday, October 27, 2023. JoAnn was born in September 1934 in Nebraska to John and Dorothea (Smith) Shimonek, which precede her in death. She was a teacher in the Omaha Westside Schools prior to moving to St. Louis, MO. Preceded by husband, Roy E. Schiefelbein; daughter, Nancy Jo. JoAnn was an active member of the early Wichita Genealogical Society and the Sedgwick County Zoo. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with: Wichita Genealogical Society, P. O. Box 3705, Wichita, KS 67202-3705 and Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 West Zoo Boulevard, Wichita, KS 67212. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
