Diana Wittman, 68, of Andover, died Friday, November 3, 2023. Rosary will be at 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 26, 2023; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Monday, November 27, 2023, both at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Diana was born on October 24, 1955 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Hays, KS. She married Lloyd Wittman on September 10, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays, KS. Together they raised two children, Eric and Maria. Diana felt this was her greatest accomplishment. Prior to having children, Diana earned her pilot’s license and was a member of the Kansas 99’s. She also worked for Southwestern Bell. While raising her kids, she was active as volunteer at the Rose Hill Public School. Additionally, she worked as an office manager at a real-estate development office in Rose Hill. As a breast cancer survivor, she felt compelled to give back by volunteering for Rose Hill’s Relay for Life and Wichita's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She was also a member of the Women’s Wellness Group. In recent years, she was a board member of the Friends of the Library in Andover. She spearheaded the American Girl program at the library and was vital to getting the whale drums placed at the entrance of the library.Diana was a devoted “Nana” to her four grand-daughters, Annie, Lucie, Audrey, and Josie. She was known for her infectious laugh and ornery pranks. Although she will be heartily missed, the memories of her will always make us smile.Preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary Younker; sister, Geraldine (Richard) Forpahl; sister-in-law, Carol Gregg. Survived by her husband, Lloyd Wittman of Andover; son, Eric (Cristina) Wittman of Portland, ME; daughter, Dr. Maria (Dr. Garrett Hooker) Wittman of Salina, KS; grandchildren, Lucie and Josie Wittman, Annie and Audrey Hooker; sister, Kathleen (John) Kramer of Wichita; brother, Gerald Younker of El Dorado, KS; sister-in-law, Connie Wittman of Andover; brother-in-law, Eldon Gregg of Hays, KS. A memorial has been established with: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - East Chapel.
