Gregory "Greg" Bruce Ryan

July 31, 1961 ~ December 18, 2023
Gregory “Greg” Bruce Ryan was born on July 31, 1961 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to James and BJ Ryan, and passed away unexpectedly on December 18, 2023. The Ryan family lived in several locations as Greg grew up, moving from Rivervale, New Jersey to Houston, Texas, then to Weston, Massachusetts and on to Yokohama, Japan for a couple years during his junior high school days. The family returned to Weston, where he excelled in swimming and soccer, and graduated from High School in 1981. He enlisted in the Navy, and quickly realized that was not his calling. He participated in the cheerleading squad, and graduated from the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut, with a degree in Graphic Design. He lived in Maine for several years, before moving to Wichita, Kansas, where he thrived. He attended Woodlawn Baptist Church, and was an active supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was extremely proud to have been sober for many years and wanted to help as many others as he could. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, creating some cherished memories. He was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his sister Kit Ryan, brother Geoff Ryan and his wife Jody, sister Susan Wantje and husband Ken, and sister Loralee Manas and her husband Glen. He also leaves behind step-father Nick Winslow and step-mother Nicole Ryan, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins. He will truly be missed.
My name is Patricia Faulds. I am so sorry to read of Greg’s passing. He was a good friend of mine. I met him on online dating site several years ago. We met at times and enjoyed going to the movies together.
I told him about Griefshare meetings at my church, Central Community Church in West Wichita and he attended them with me a number of times as he had a family loss in his life. I texted him I believe last summer and we attended a movie together. He invited me to an AA meeting one time too. I really enjoyed talking with him and will miss those times a lot. He encouraged me in my relationship with another guy. We were never more than friends as he said my age of 13 years older than him he said was a “deal breaker”, but so glad we were good friends. God Bless you all and prayers during your grieving his loss. But I know he loved Jesus and is now out of pain, in the presence Of God.
Sorry for your loss we miss Greg at Parklane AA hall so sad
