Joan Armentrout, a beloved resident of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on May 13, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on November 15, 1942, Memorial Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary 10515 West Maple Wichita, KS.Joan was born in Lyons, KS to Glenn & Frances Dunlap. Joan graduated from Plainville High School in 1960. Joan was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and love for all things Kansas. Joan had a passion for family, gardening, journalism, politics, women’s rights, road trips, lively conversation, clean cars, dusty race tracks, bench racing, crossword puzzles and the 3x Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs!Joan was a fighter with a tenacious work ethic that carried over to her working career. She was a dedicated employee beginning work as a rural telephone operator, being the bookkeeper for many years at several local motorcycle dealerships helped prepare her for becoming administrative director for the Women’s Clinic in Wichita.Joan will be remembered lovingly by her two sons, Doug (Isabel) & Kris (Cindy) Armentrout; sister, Mary Sue Arpin; three grandchildren & five great grandchildren; nieces, Dee nephews, Tyler & Alex. Joan was preceded in death by husband, Kurt E Armentrout; parents, Glenn & Frances Dunlap; and sister, Margaret Reinbold.
