Cynthia Marie Schafer

Cynthia Marie Schafer was born on August 4, 1955, in Manhattan KS. She was the eldest of five children born to Jerry and Evelyn Schafer. She passed away in Wichita KS on June 7, 2024, following a brief illness. She had lived in Pretty Prairie, Hutchinson, Garden City, Manhattan, and Wichita, following where her parents’ careers and retirement led.
Always a KSU Wildcat fan, she enjoyed going to games and wearing her purple. Cindy loved dogs, cats, Star Wars, Mickey Mouse, Roy Rogers, balloons, music, Diet Dr. Pepper, pouring through photograph albums, checking out library books, baking, and holding and shopping for babies. More than anything in the world, Cindy loved babies.
She was methodical and tidy, and enjoyed helping with household tasks. She made friends easily, loved her family fiercely, and celebrated holidays and birthdays with gusto.
Cindy exemplified faith, love, and joy in this life, and leaves many people feeling blessed to have known and loved her: siblings, Greg Schafer (Cindy), Dennis Schafer (Nancy), Susan Wendland (Ron), and Judy Jones (Ron); eight nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins, family, friends, and caregivers.
Services will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 645 119th Street West, Wichita KS 67235, on Thursday, June 20, 2024. A Rosary will be said at 9:30 am, and Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Interment will beside her parents in Ascension Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Arrowhead West, Inc., 1100 East Wyatt Earp Blvd., Dodge City, KS 67801.

I will miss my Friday see you Monday and hug! She will be deeply missed. I will also never forget going to the dentist and him opening his billfold for her to get her $1.00 out and she took the $100.00 bill. Love her and will miss her. Danielle
I was blessed to frequent visits at Cindy’s family’s home growing up and got to see her just a month ir so ago. Her smile is always the first thing I think of.
Cindy blessed many of us over the years. She will be missed and and loved always.
