David Hubbard, III, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Reflection Living in Wichita. He was an active Master Gardener. In his later years, he spent his days in his personal gardens, playing with his dog, Maggie, tinkering in his incredible workshop/garage, lounging in the pool or trying to “relocate” squirrels. Prior to retirement, David worked in the aviation industry for decades. When his children were young, he also ran a TV repair shop. He could fix just about anything. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War and worked as a cook. Boy, the stories he could tell. He never did learn how to cook for a smaller group. Preceded in death by his parents, David Jr. and LaVeta Rose (Hecht) Hubbard; daughter, Shawnda Hubbard Garrett; daughter-in-law, Vickie Hubbard. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Claudia Hubbard of Wichita; children, Bret Hubbard of Wichita, KS, Shan Hubbard of Haysville, KS; step-children, Troy Williams, Tanis Litton (Todd) all of Wichita, KS; siblings, Joy Huntsinger (Phil) of Baldwin City, KS and Cindy Vadakin (Gordon) of Wichita; grandchildren, Tate (Kristina) Williams of Firestone, CO and Claire Garrett of Eureka Springs, AR; great-grandson, Ezra. Graveside services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Home Health & Hospice, LLC, 9415 East Harry Street, Suite 703, Wichita, KS 67207 and the Sedgwick County Master Gardener Program, 7001 West 21st Street North, Wichita, KS 67205 Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
