Joyce Elaine Erskin

Joyce Elaine Erskin was born May 7, 1939 in Meade, KS to Willa Mae and Clyde Sexson. She died August 20, 2024 at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, KS. Joyce was married to Jim Erskin, September 20, 1957. From that union they had 3 children. James Michael Erskin, spouse Ruth, of Springdale, AR. Judith Michelle Lathen, spouse Jeffery, of Meade, KS. Janet Lynn Howard, spouse Stephen, of Bel Aire, KS. Joyce was a devoted military wife and mother, spending many years traveling the world with him and her children. She volunteered and several military hospitals and charitable organizations. She loved to cook, craft, read books, garden but most of all, she loved spending time with family and loving on her grandchildren. Her favorite past time was to watch the birds and squirrels outside her window at the retirement center. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jim in 2002. Also preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather, sister and brother. She is survived by her 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Joyce will be returning to the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR to rest alongside her husband. There will be a graveside service at 10:30am on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorials in her name be sent to the Lone Tree Retirement Center, 801 E. Grant St., Meade, KS 67864.Services in care of Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
