Margery Ann (VanKeuren) Winter

Margery Ann (VanKeuren) Winter, 91, passed away surrounded by family on April 8, 2025.
She was born on May 19, 1933 in Middletown, New York to Dewey and Ethel (Chardavoyne) VanKeuren. She lived on the grounds of the New York State Hospital for nineteen years where her mother was the director of nursing and her father was the head butcher.
Margery graduated from Cushing Academy and Russell Sage College. She married John W. Winter on June 11, 1955. They were married for 69 years before John’s death in 2024. Together they traveled the world.
Margery embraced moving to Texas and raised their family in Houston (Nassau Bay). She enjoyed restoring a 100-year-old log cabin that was recognized with a Texas historical marker and writing short stories about East Texas. She earned her LPN in Houston and worked as a nurse. She was the epitome of a loving wife and mother.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Ethel VanKeuren, husband, John W. Winter, daughter, Marganne Oxley, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Rainey Taylor, and niece, Autumn Lanham; Margery is survived by her children, J. Todd Winter (Ellen), Jane Marie Schulte (Matt) and son-in-law, David Oxley.
Margery is survived by grandchildren Will Winter Oxley (Andrea), John Van Keuren Winter (Sara), Nicholas Todd Winter (Victoria), Sondra Rae Haro (Denys), Ryan Doull Winter (Kendall), George Dean Schulte, Ellen Paige Schulte and seven great grandchildren. She is survived by her nieces, Holly Stroth, Anne Taylor, Susan Taylor and Mary Taylor.
Private family interment will be held at Stryker cemetery in Corrigan Texas.
