Varon "Bill" Harvey Jr., 93, died Monday, April 21, 2025.
Bill was born April 28, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois to Varon W. Harvey and Mary Kathryn (Davis) Harvey of Marietta, Oklahoma. He attended high school at Rockhurst High in Kansas City and graduated from Dothan High in Dothan, Alabama. He was a member of the United States Air Force 31st Air Rescue Squadron during the Korean War. He participated in numerous search and rescue missions in Korea and the South Pacific. After his time in the United States Air Force, he attended Ole Miss College and retired from the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller.
Rosary will be at 9:30 am; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 26, 2025, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Varon, Sr. and Mary Harvey; grandchild, Jessica Jennings; sister, Nancy Koenig.
Survived by his son, William “Bill” (Sheila) Harvey; daughter, Bridget Harvey, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Michael Harvey, Jennifer (Adam) Tran, Heather Kane; sisters, Marilyn Montrastelle of Newburgh, Indiana, Linda Olcese of Austin, Texas; many great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established with: Good Shepherd Hospice, 7829 East Rockhill Street, Suite #403, Wichita, Kansas 67206.
Services in care of Downing & Lahey Mortuary - West Chapel.
Bill was a wonderful person. We shared a lot of laughs and many bars of Chocolate. He said he really wanted a brat with sauerkraut and a beer but chocolate would do😂. He was very proud of his family and loved them so much. He will be missed.
