Francis (Fritz) Paul Werth, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Holy Rosary will be at 9:30 am, and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, both on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 861 N. Socora Street, Wichita, Kansas. Mr. Werth was born on May 16th, 1933, in Schoenchen, Kansas, and the seventh son of Joseph and Rosa Werth (née Pfannenstiel). He was preceded in death by his parents, his six brothers and three sisters. On June 5, 1952, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. and served as a Radio Telegraph Operator. He traveled to Japan during the Korean War and honorably discharged on June 4, 1955. Francis married Marilyn Lagaly on June 6, 1959, at St. Marks Catholic Church, and they celebrated 65 years together. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; and children, Mark, Sondra Mitchell (Steve), and Greg. He has nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Francis was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. He worked as a ceiling specialist for 48 years and retired in 2003. Francis loved his family and doted on his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid camper and boater, and he and Marilyn loved to fish. Some of the happiest times were when his children and grandchildren would come to the “lake” and visit. Anyone who knew Francis knew of his and Marilyn’s enthusiasm for their yard and garden. He worked very hard his entire life to provide for his family. He was an unassuming man who provided stability as a role model and will be missed dearly. Francis was a devout Catholic and loved his faith. In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis’ honor may be made to the Benedictine Mission House, Christ the King Priory, P.O. Box 528, Schuyler, Nebraska, 68661-0528. Services in care of Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.
