Allison had a gift for making friends wherever she went with her quick wit and warm spirit. She loved dogs, rock music, KU basketball, and exploring the world, always eager for the next adventure. She found joy in simple moments and shared that joy freely with others. Her humor, kindness, and love of life touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had an extraordinary sympathy for the most vulnerable people in this world and treated them with the greatest compassion.

Allison is preceded in death by her mother, Dianne Kay Eaton and grandmother, Maxine Buffington. She is survived by her father, Brian Douglas Eaton of Wichita, KS; sister, Lauren (Drew) Rhoades of Wichita, KS; niece, Paisley Rhoades; nephew, Dakota Rhoades; grandparents, Kenneth and Peggy Eaton of Broken Arrow, OK, and Leslie Buffington of Perry, OK.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Allison’s honor may be made to the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219, and University of Kansas Libraries, payable to KU Endowment, mailed to Gift Processing Dept., KU Endowment Association, P.O. Box 928, Lawrence, KS 66044-0928. Allison’s life was a reminder to embrace the world with curiosity, laughter, and love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by her family and friends.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Dear Lauren and Brian, my heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I am happy that she is no longer struggling.

  2. Allison was kind, thoughtful, and a great friend. She also had great taste in music – I remember back in college when she listened to every Led Zeppelin album all of the way through which I thought was super cool. She will be deeply missed.

  3. Sorry for your tremendous loss. Wish we had known her more. As members of the Harmon/Hunt family we mourn with you also. God bless you & comfort you now & in the days ahead.

  4. I got to know Allison well at Naismith Hall while working as an RA. She often shared stories of her mom and kept me updated on her first niece (she was SO excited to become an aunt!). A few years passed, we hadn’t talked to one another in a bit, yet she regularly checked in when she found out I unexpectedly lost my dad. Even during her own battles, she was there to help people navigate through theirs. I was so sorry to see that she passed away, but I can’t help but smile a bit thinking of her being reunited with her mom.
