Celebrating the life of Amber Brunswig, an amazing wife, mom, sister, daughter, teacher, coach, and mentor who left an indelible mark on her community. Born on January 14, 1978, in Arkansas City, KS, Amber thrived as a compassionate force, consistently pushing everyone around her to excel. Her journey with her beloved husband, Preston, began on October 20, 2001, and together they nurtured a loving family over twenty-three years of marriage.
Amber’s legacy is carried on by her three wonderful children, Jace, Aubrey, and Keely, who mirror her spirit of excellence and determination. She was daughter to Chris and Melinda Taylor, who instilled in her the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion that she lived out every day. She was sister to Tristan (Lindsey) and Tyson (Kimber) and aunt to Maddison, Kade, Kamdyn and Talyn.
Amber’s passion for softball was unmatched. A standout pitcher in high school, she capped her youth career with a state championship for Arkansas City. She continued as a D1 pitcher at Wichita State from 1997-1999. Post-college, Amber dedicated herself to coaching, leading the Newton Railers and later the Eisenhower High School teams, achieving notable success including two AV-CTL Division II championships and 2022 & 23 Coach of the Year, multiple regional titles leading to the Class 5A state semifinals in three straight years from 2021-23, highlighted by a runner-up finish in 2023.
Professionally, Amber was a dedicated educator with a master’s Degree in Elementary Education, impacting countless lives during her 24-year teaching career at Newton (South Breeze – 2nd Grade) and Goddard (Discovery Intermediate – 5th Grade). Her role extended beyond teaching; she was a mentor and role model, praised widely for her leadership both in and out of the classroom. She was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, serving as President while attending Wichita State and then serving as an advisor for over 20 years. She was recipient of the Cable and Loyalty awards for her dedication to helping young women in the sorority.
A Christian, Amber lived her faith through action, embodying the virtues of kindness, patience, and love. Her life was a testament to the power of dedication in every role she embraced—from the classroom, to the softball diamond, and to Delta Gamma.
Memorial contributions in honor of Amber’s profound impact can be directed to the Eisenhower High School Softball Program, 1230 South 167th Street West, P. O.
