Randal Ward, 72, loving family man, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Saturday, August 16, 2025; Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 17, 2025, both at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.

Randy graduated from Wichita State in 1975 with his BBA. While in college Randy became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and was initiated at the fraternity’s national headquarters in Evanston, IL. He began his working career as a waiter at Pat O’Briens in 1974. After graduation he began work at JM O’Connor working for his father and later becoming a principal in the company. Randy worked at JM O’Connor for 39 years before retiring shortly before his death. Married to Jeanne for over 40 years, his lifelong dedication to the things he loved showed.

Preceded in death by his parents, Max and Bonnie Ward.

Survived by his wife, Jeanne Ward; son, Sean Ward and Kenzie Watson; daughter, Stephanie Ward; best friend, Jim Talbott; brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon; and all of his friends throughout Wichita.

A memorial has been established with: Wichita State Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization, 1845 Fairmount St., Box 18, Wichita, KS 67260.

  6. Randy was a fun delightful guy in junior high, high school and college. After college we lost touch but I will always remember the joy and laughter he gave. My condolences to his family.

    I first met Randy with Jim when they were teenagers. They were close friends then and that relationship endured for these many years.
    Although I was away from Wichita for nearly 20 years, upon my return I learned that Randy and Jim’s friendship had endured.
    I remember his smile and enjoyed the many stories of their escapades and adventures. I know he will be greatly missed.

  9. I knew Randy in college, and became closer friends during the past decade. After work gatherings with good friends were a pleasure we all looked forward to. You are missed, Randy.
