John Loehr, 91, self employed masonry contractor of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on October 25, 2025.

Born on April 9, 1934, John graduated from Goddard High School and went on to build a lifelong career as a dedicated brick mason. In 1965 he founded John Loehr Masonry Construction Company.  He took great pride in his work and lived by his favorite saying, “If you’re going to kill time, work it to death.” True to his word, John was up before the sun each day, ready to tackle any project that came his way. Whether it was his own work or lending a hand to others, his work ethic and generosity never wavered.  He was a man who truly led by example.

John married the love of his life, Anne, on June 20, 1964, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wichita. Together they raised four children — Jodi, Tony, Debra, and Steve — creating a home filled with faith, love, and laughter.

John loved the outdoors, he had countless stories of noodling with family and friends and always appreciated the simple beauty of nature.  He could tell you exactly how many plants, seeds, or onion sets he planted each year in his garden or how many black walnuts he picked up to feed the squirrels.  Above all, John was a devoted family man. He treasured his role as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; proudly sharing his love with 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His happiest moments were spent giving tractor rides, cheering at family events, and simply being surrounded by those he loved most.  John’s legacy of hard work, kindness, and dedication to family will continue to inspire all who knew him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony & Josephine Loehr; sisters, Betty Rausch, Phyllis Loehr; brothers, Pete and James. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne (Vosburgh) Loehr; daughters, Jodi Neises (Joe) and Debra Gann (Matthew); sons, Tony Loehr (Molly) and Steve Loehr; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and brother, Don Loehr (Joyce).
