As a final tribute to her husband George, she passed away in his arms at 3:52 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon at their home after over 58 years of marriage.  They became high school sweethearts, dated their senior year after riding on a bus returning from the Hutchinson Fair and married 5 years later.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Mable Elliott: daughter, Holly Thomas: brother, Robert “Bob” Elliott; and sister, Delores Dike.  She is survived by her husband, George Hoffman of Wichita: son, Ryan (Stephanie) Hoffman of Merriam, Kansas; brother, Loren Carl Elliott of Webster, Texas; grandchildren, Monroe Hoffman, Skyler Hoffman, and Emma Hoffman.

Jane graduated from WSU with a Masters in Elementary Education and retired many years later after a break in between to raise their two children Holly and Ryan.

Jane was loved by everyone she met and she left behind many stories that relatives and friends will cherish forever.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and especially loved to have parents tell all the funny things their kids did.  She even filled the basement with toys for kids to show they were always welcome.  She loved playing board games and puzzles.  She even taught some to play 10-point pitch.  She loved family get togethers on holidays and decorated for every occasion and season.  She was such a good cook. She loved sending cards that always included personal notes.

She loved her grandchildren so much. Sadly, after the onset of Alzheimer’s and her inability to speak she was robbed of many of the “Grandma” memories.

Finally, Jane saved my life.
