Leonard “Roy” Rains, 80, died Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Graveside Service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, November 14, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery – Oatville.
Leonard spent his career in law enforcement, spending time with the following agencies: Great Bend Police Department, Sedgwick County Sheriff Department, Wichita Police Department, Special Investigator for the Kansas Attorney General’s Office, Garden Plain Police Chief, Benton Police Department, Rose Hill Police Department, Augusta Safety Department, Butler County Sheriff’s Department (from where he retired after 50 years of service). He was also a veteran of the United States Navy.
Preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Louella Rains; wife, Judy Rains; sisters, Betty Jones, Joyce Stillwell, June Gross.
Survived by his son, Chad Rains of Lexington, SC; daughter, Kim Roth of Canon City, CO; son, Cody Vance of San Antonio, TX; niece, Becky Dugger, nephew, Steve Jones, niece, Kellie Wells; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; friend, Bob (Dawn) Sage.
