With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kimme Smith Kyle, 61, who left us on November 18, 2025.
Born on May 8, 1964, in Wichita, Kansas, Kimme grew up in West Wichita and graduated from Goddard High School in 1982. She went on to attend Lubbock Christian College, earning her degree in Youth Ministry in 1986. Guided by her desire to help others, she later attended Texas Tech University School of Law and graduated with her Juris Doctor, beginning a meaningful career as an Estate and Probate Law and Probate lawyer in the state of Texas.
In addition to her professional achievements as a lawyer, Kimme was a very talented seamstress. She had a special gift for creating beautiful things with her hands, and her work was a reflection of her patience, care, and creativity.
Kimme married Warren Kyle in 1991, and together, in 1997, they traveled to Russia to adopt their beloved son, Zhenya James Kyle, who was six years old at that time. Zhenya quickly became the center of her world and one of the greatest joys of her life. His passing in 2013 devastated her, and she carried that loss with a quiet, enduring love.
In 2009, Kimme was blessed to become a grandmother when her grandson, Micah, was born. She was a loving Nana who cared deeply for him and treasured every moment they spent together.
Kimme is survived by her mother, DeLoy Smith; her brother, Gaylan Smith and his wife Sherry Smith; her grandson, Micah Kyle; her nephew, Justin Smith and his wife Jessica Smith; and her niece, Amanda Smith and her husband Tanner Smith, 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Zhenya Kyle, and her father, Lawrence Smith.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, November 28th, at Downing & Lahey West in Wichita, Kansas from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 29th, at 10:00 am at Downing & Lahey West, followed by a graveside service at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Wichita at 12:00 pm.
Kimme will be remembered for her gentle and giving spirit, and the deep love she held for her family. Though she kept much of her personal life private, those who knew her felt her kindness and the quiet strength that carried her through life’s hardships. She is now at peace, lovingly reunited with her son.

I have been truly blessed to call Kimme my good friend. My prayers are with her family and friends for peace and comfort.
Kimme and Warren took me in to their home when I was about 18. Showed me nothing but kindness. I hope she is hugging on Z right this very second. ❤️ you guys.

Kimme and I were independent art study students at Goddard High School. I remember well her genuine kindness, her charming personality, her wonderful sense of humor, her amazing artistic talent and her intelligence. She was a lovely person inside and out. This is heartbreaking news. May Kimme rest in God’s arms and may her family be comforted by His peace.
Dear Kimme,
I was deeply saddened to learn of your passing. Our fathers shared a close friendship, which allowed us to spend much of our childhood together. We engaged in activities such as playing with dolls, enjoying time on the swing set, and sharing meals, after which our mothers would ensure we all rested. These memories remain meaningful to me. May you rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Darlene Knight
