Richard Dale Powell, 75, retired X-Ray Service Technician, died Friday, November 21, 2025.
Richard was born in Binger, Oklahoma, and moved to Wichita, Kansas, when he was two years old. He attended Gardiner Elementary, Mead Junior High, and South High School where he ran track and was a pole vaulter. He was an Air Force veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Richard worked for Greb X-Ray, Merry X-Ray, GE Healthcare, and Ascension Via Christi. He enjoyed fishing and watching old westerns. He was a fan of the WSU Shockers, KC Chiefs, KC Royals and K-State. A favorite annual trip to Silver Dollar City with the family was the highlight of many years. After retirement, he enjoyed breakfast every other Friday with his former fellow co-workers.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Alta Lee Powell; and sister, Karen Powell. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Powell of Derby, Kansas; daughters, Beth (Andy) Huseman of Victoria, Texas, Michelle (Tom) Richmond of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Emily (Mark) Carlson of Wichita, Kansas; and eight grandchildren, Faith, Franklin, Titus, Abigail, Clare, Francis, Leo and Agnes.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:00 pm; Rosary will be at 7:00, Monday, November 24, 2025, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Bel Aire, Kansas.
