Jack Simko, born on July 27, 1944 in Hammond, Indiana, passed away on December 6, 2025, at the age of 81.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary.
On September 30, 1967, he married Sandra Simko, with whom he shared 55 devoted years of marriage until her passing in 2023.
Jack proudly served in the United States Air Force for more than 21 years, retiring honorably in 1985 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a skilled Navigation and Bomb Navigation Systems Technician and served during the Vietnam War, earning multiple military commendations that highlighted his dedication, technical excellence and faithful service to his country.
Following his retirement from the military, Jack carried his dedication and expertise into the aerospace industry, beginning a second fulfilling career at Boeing. He spent the next two decades in work he greatly enjoyed and was deeply proud of his contributions to the company.
Jack found joy in fishing, devoted years to building an extensive coin collection that reflected his deep appreciation for history, expressed his creativity through painting, and loved the challenge of a good crossword puzzle.
He is survived by his daughter, Mellissa Simko; sisters, Peggy Chovanec and Meredith Hanak; stepmother, Barbara Simko; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Dorothy Simko; as well as his beloved wife, Sandra Simko; and his youngest daughter, Stacy Shay, all of whom he missed dearly.
Jack leaves behind a life well lived and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In May 2023, Jack had the privilege to be a part of the Kansas Honor Flight, with fellow veterans on a journey of embrace to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice.
