It was a privilege to have known this wonderful lady.
Mary Louise Mayer, 93, retired Raytheon employee, passed away January 28, 1932, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Gypsum, Kansas, on December 25, 1932, to German immigrants August and Frida Mayer. She grew up on their dairy farm in Gypsum, alongside her older brother Alfred and younger brother Lawrence. She graduated from Gypsum High School in 1950. Mary became a mother in 1953 when her only child, Karl, was born. Mary worked various jobs while raising her son as an amazing single mother, before settling into the aircraft industry. Many may know her from her days as a go-getter Tupperware and/or Mary Kay dealer. In the 1990s, Mary became a landlady, renting houses she remodeled herself.
Mary was always there for her two granddaughters, and later, their daughters. Her family is full of stories of laughs, adventures, Sunday dinners, and so much more. She was a woman ahead of her time, independent and strong-willed. She was faithful, determined, sassy, generous, funny, savvy and discerning, cheerful and most kind. She championed her family’s every endeavor – great or small. With her smiles and words, she leaves us armored with encouragement. Please remember her smile like a light in dark places. We are fortunate that she has left a bright and lasting legacy, having gifted her strength to empower the lives of many others. She was and will always be lovely, shining, beautiful – and loved.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, August and Frida Mayer, her brother Alfred and his wife LaDonna, and her brother Lawrence and his wife Barbara. She is survived by her son, Karl Muzingo; granddaughter Danzel Bond and grandson-in-law Jason; her granddaughter Lauren Muzingo; great-granddaughters Gracie and Clementine Bond, and Annabel and Rosemary Boring; many nieces and nephews; and numerous beloved cats.
