Terina Payne
June 17, 1957 ~ January 29, 2026
Terina Payne was born in Fort Riley, Kansas to Teruko Sakuma and James W. Shaffer on June 17, 1957.
She grew up in Junction City, Kansas and attended college at Colby Community College. She married and raised her family in Dodge City, Kansas and Brookfield, Missouri. She worked at the schools and part-time at the city of Brookfield for many years. She enjoyed hosting and always loved getting to know people.
Terina departed this life January 29, 2026. She is preceded in death by brothers, Eddie Shaffer and Michael E. Shaffer.
She is survived by her spouse, Ernest L. Payne; children, Rachel L. Young (Kenneth), David S. Richard, Michael D. Richard (Andrea); brother, James W. Shaffer (Mandy); and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Graveside Service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Derby.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Humane Society, 3313 N. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67219.
