Jane Elizabeth (Kruppenbach) Ramsey died at Larksfield Place Health Care Center, Wichita, Kansas on March 21, 2026 at the age of 95. Jane was born to Harry and Mabel (Barrett) Kruppenbach. Her family lived in Joanna, PA. As a country girl, Jane enjoyed 4H projects, swimming in the quarry, gardening, and raising chickens. She attended Manchester College in Indiana for a year and joined Brethren Volunteer Service, where on assignment in Chicago she met Duane H. Ramsey, her husband of 61 years until his death. When Duane completed his seminary training, Jane supported him in his 45-year ministry at the Washington City Church of the Brethren in Washington, DC, where she taught Sunday school, hosted meals and sang in the choir. Their marriage was blessed with five children who were nurtured by the products of her garden, her cooking, baking and sewing skills, and her love and attention. She was the “neighborhood mom” who mentored and encouraged the families and children around her. After Duane’s retirement, they moved to Wichita, KS, where they enjoyed family gatherings and time for travel. Jane continued her Sunday school teaching at First Church of the Brethren in Wichita. She is predeceased by her parents and husband; brothers, John and Robert Kruppenbach, and grandson, Aaron Melhorn.
