Lora Kathleen DePugh, 98, went from this life to her eternal home with Christ on April 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She had been a resident of the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire, Kansas, for four months, and had lived with family for several years prior to that.
Kathleen was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 5, 1927, to Fred and Dorothy Norris. At age 11, her family moved to Independence, Missouri, where she met her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Bill DePugh. They married in 1945 and had three children. In 1960 they moved to Norborne, Missouri, and began attending the First Baptist Church, where the whole family came to know Christ as Savior and Lord. Bill surrendered to the ministry and he and Kathleen served faithfully in several churches in Missouri and Iowa.
Kathleen graduated from Willliam Jewell College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and taught special education in Iowa and Missouri. She was a beloved pastor’s wife, supporting Bill in his pastoral ministry. She was a brilliant seamstress and was equally talented in knitting and quilting. She received great joy from sharing her handiwork with family.
She is survived by her children, Dennis (Glenda) DePugh of Blue Springs, Missouri, Diane (David) Noble of Belton, Missouri, and Dana (Allen) Spurgeon of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Denny (Bethany) DePugh, Kim (Jami) Davis, Jeff (Jori) Noble, Matt Noble, and Matt (Erin) Spurgeon; great-grandchildren, Henry and Norah DePugh, CJ, Daniel and Lukas Noble, and Luke, Ryan and Callie Spurgeon.
A private ceremony will be held with family.
