Violet Lorene West

Violet Lorene West, 91, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, died Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Graveside Service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Resthaven Cemetery.

Violet was a retired owner/operator/manager of several bowling centers in Wichita. She enjoyed puzzles, Friday shopping & luncheons with friends and family. She was known by her grandkids/family, neighbors and friends as “Bucka”.

Violet is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer A. and Carrie A. Nelson; siblings; and husband, James L. West. She is survived by her son, Brian (Amber) West of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Austin West of Goddard, Taylor (Levi) Preston of Bartlesville, OK, Jamie Callaway West, and Carly West both of Wichita, KS; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with: Midian Shrine Center, General Fund, 130 North Topeka Avenue, Wichita, KS 67202 and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 South Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
