Carol Taylor, 95, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026

Carol Ann Taylor was born on March 17, 1931, in Wichita, Kansas, to Ernest and Annie Roll. A native Wichitan and lifelong advocate. She attended Wichita Public Schools and graduated from North High School in 1948. She attended Wichita State University and received a Bachelor of Education and Master of Library Science.

In 1953 Carol married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Bob Taylor. They spent three magical years in Hawaii where Bob was in the Coast Guard. Carol served as a classroom elementary teacher and school librarian and substitute librarian for over 40 years. She was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church and church archivist. She gave generously of her time and talent to many Wichita local organizations. She had great devotion and dedication to the organizations she served.

Carol’s life was filled with the enjoyment of the arts, travel, plants, friends, and family. She was a librarian at heart and loved history, sharing stories, collecting, and organizing, and of course- books. She cherished her family and loved nothing more than being with them.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert “Bob” Taylor and her parents Ernest and Annie Roll.

Carol is survived by daughter Katie Cobb and spouse Priscilla Freeman, son and daughter in law Kevin and Nadine Taylor, grandchildren Anne Baumgarten (Matthew Baumgarten), Adam Cobb (Bekah Cobb), Leslie Cobb, Nicole Taylor (Michael Garfield), Lauren Storm (Devin Storm); nine great grandchildren and cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and  many she called her own.

She will be deeply missed by friends at Grace Presbyterian Church, Wichita Symphony Ambassadors, Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter GE (P.E.O.), Daughters of the American Revolution Martha Loving Ferrell Chapter, Project Beauty, Kappa Kappa Iota Sorority, USD 259, Sheffield Place, Larksfield Place Assisted Living and Home Health Care Center. She made friends easily and shared lifelong partnerships.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Grace Presbyterian Church, 5002 E. Douglas 67208 with reception to follow and burial at Old Mission Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
