A rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary, with a graveside service to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:30 p.m. that same day at Rolling Hills Country Club.

Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Marilyn Schartz; his sister, Debbie Schartz; and his sister-in-law, Patty Schartz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janice Schartz, whom he married on June 21, 1985, and who was truly the love of his life. He is also survived by his sons, Sam (Annie) Schartz, Alex Schartz, and Eric Schartz; his siblings, Cathy (Dan) Steiner, Tony Schartz, Cheri Claphan, Diane (Dan) Delaney, Kyle (Liz) Schartz, and Lane Schartz; his uncle, John McDowell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Tyrone graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1980, where he also played collegiate golf – one of his lifelong passions. He was a devoted family man who found great joy in supporting his sons, whether watching them umpire or cheering them on during sporting events throughout the years.

An avid sports fan, Tyrone especially loved football and golf, with The Masters holding a special place in his heart each year.

He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his steady presence, and the pride he took in the lives of those he loved.
