Karen Townsend, 71, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 9, 2026.
Karen will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family. She touched the lives of many with her caring spirit, gentle heart, and genuine compassion for others.
A longtime resident of Wichita, Karen built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and love. She was a faithful attendee of Central Community Church, where she found spiritual encouragement and fellowship. Her faith was an important part of her life and helped guide her through both joyful and challenging times. Karen especially cherished the friendships she formed through her Bible study group, finding encouragement, laughter, and lasting companionship amongst those dear friends.
Above all else, Karen was a devoted mother whose greatest joy was her daughter, Amy Townsend. Karen’s love, support, and dedication to Amy were evident throughout her life, and the bond they shared was a source of strength and happiness for them both.
Karen also had a special love for her pet dogs, who brought her companionship, comfort, and joy throughout the years. She treasured their loyalty and affection and considered them beloved members of her family.
Karen enjoyed spending time with her close friends, especially gathering around a card table for games filled with laughter, friendly competition, and cherished fellowship. These moments created many treasured memories and reflected her love of friendship and community.
Those who knew Karen will fondly remember her sweet tooth and her love for desserts. She often joked that she had a “second stomach just for desserts,” a saying that never failed to bring a smile to family and friends. It was one of the many charming qualities that made her so easy to love and so memorable to those around her.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Veva Bullock.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Amy Townsend; her brothers, Keith (Laury) Bullock, Kevin (Lenee) Bullock; along with other cherished family members, dear Bible study friends, close card-playing companions, and many friends whose lives she touched.
Karen’s legacy is one of love, devotion, faith, and kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family finds comfort in celebrating a life well lived and in the lasting impact she made on everyone around her.
