Donna Depew

Donna Lee Wolever Depew passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. She was born in June, 1935 in Emporia, Kansas to Maizie and Keith Wolever. The Wolevers moved to Wichita when she was a toddler and Donna spent the rest of her life as a proud Wichitan.
Donna was the first in her family to attend college. Her time at Wichita University was filled with fun, friends and eventually led to her meeting “Joe College,” her husband of 47 years, Spencer Depew.
Donna and Spencer married on December 28,1957 and completed their family with a son, Clifford and a daughter, Sally.
Active in the community, Donna was involved in the Junior League, P.E.O., various garden clubs, served as a Deaconess at Plymouth Congregational Church, and helped establish Botanica, the Wichita Gardens.
Some of Donna’s great joys were her hobbies. Donna was creative and excelled at everything she undertook. She tended her garden with great vision, was designated a Certified Decorative Painter, loved restoring antique dolls, decorating her home for every season, and enjoyed all forms of sewing and needlework. She also loved cheering on the Wichita State Shockers and KU Jayhawks in basketball and football.
Donna was preceded in death by her dear husband, Spencer Depew; her parents, Keith and Maizie Wolever; and her siblings, Barbara Rider and Rodney Wolever.
Donna is survived by her son, Clifford Depew; daughter-in-law, Corinne Depew; daughter, Sally Finegold; grandchildren, Henry and Rachel Depew, George and Kelsey Depew, Jack Finegold, Annabel Finegold, and Ian Finegold. She is also survived by her great loves: great-grandsons, Louis and Russell Depew and Walter Depew.
Thanks to all of her wonderful care givers from Phoenix Home Care who gave their undivided attention and love in these last several weeks.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Plymouth Congregational Church.
Memorials have been established with Botanica, 701 North Amidon Street, Wichita, Kansas 67203; and Plymouth Congregational Church, 202 North Clifton Avenue, Wichita, Kansas 67208.

I met Donna through Cooking at Bonnie’s. We were always at the “naughty” table. I enjoyed Donna so much. Her creativity was so amazing. I’ll never forget the fantastic Halloween party she had. The fun we had on cooking expeditions was amazing. Donna always kept us laughing.
I will miss her greatly; her spunk, personality and a great person in every way.
