Lorin L. Peterson, 84, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, after a short illness.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Peterson; children, John (Brooke) Peterson, Kari (Brent) Paul, Sara (Alok) Aurora; grandchildren, Kayla (fiancé, Kenny) Paul, Kyra (CJ) Thompson, Joshua (Chloe) Paul, Conner (Laurel) Peterson, Annika Aurora, Jenna Paul, Maren Aurora, Bryce Paul, Eli Aurora; great-grandchildren, Selah, Florence, and Ivy Paul, Kinsley Zaragoza, Felicity Peterson; beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and more….and many friends. Lorin is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Mildred Peterson; and brother, Merle Peterson.

Lorin was born in Salina, Kansas. He attended Salina Public Schools. Upon graduation from Salina Central High School, he attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and graduated with a degree in mathematics. Here he formed many lasting friendships. After graduation, Lorin earned his master’s degree in statistics from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.

In 1966 he left Kansas for Minnesota where he worked as a systems analyst for General Mills in Golden Valley, Minnesota then for a warmer climate he continued work as an analyst in Silicon Valley, California, then Dole Pineapple with an office in Honolulu, Hawaii, then later in San Francisco, California. He married Ann Larson July 1, 1967, and they grew their family in the San Francisco Bay area. Lorin and Ann came back to Kansas to raise their kids. Lorin retired as a master scheduler from Cessna Aircraft in 2007.

During his retirement years he enjoyed attending sports events, watching sporting events on television and spending time with family. He was so proud of his children and their spouses as well as their children and families. His faith grew as he studied the Bible in quiet time as well as in a small group and a men’s Bible study at his church.

He will be sorely missed for his loyalty, his faithfulness, his generosity and much more.

Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary. Services will be 11:00 am, on Monday, July 13, 2026, at West Evangelical Free Church. Graveside service will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Swedesburg Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, 2527 Meadowlark Road, Clay Center, Kansas 67432.
