Vicky Susan Fidler PanKratz was born on November 25, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Loyal and Vera Fidler. When she was four years old, her family moved from Rolla, Kansas, to Meade, Kansas. She graduated from Meade High School in 1963 and attended Fort Hays State College, where she met the love of her life, Jon PanKratz.

On August 28, 1965, Vicky married Jon PanKratz. Together they built a loving family and raised 3 daughters. Their family grew to include 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her life and brought her immense joy. To those who loved her most, she was simply “Nanny,” a name that reflected the warmth, love, and care she gave so freely.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers-in-law.

She is survived by her devoted husband of many years, Jon PanKratz; her daughters, Niki (Mike) Carter of Rose Hill, Kansas; Andrea PanKratz of Park City, Kansas; and Paige (Jeramie) Hoover of Goddard, Kansas. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Banny Orme of Wichita, Kansas, Judy Smith of Meade, Kansas, and Cindy Robbins of Yuma, Arizona; her sister-in-law, Judy PanKratz of Kingwood, Texas; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Vicky will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind heart, and the legacy of love she leaves behind in each generation. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and cherished “Nanny” will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Downing & Lahey West Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be designated to the Wichita Children’s Home, 7271 East 37th Street North, Wichita, KS 67226.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Your mom was amazing. I remember the 1st time I met her, she welcomed me into her home with open arms.

  2. I worked with Vicki at the service center for a few years. She was a wonderful person, with a great sense of humor. (Pretty much a necessity if you had me on your crew.) There was never any doubt about how much she loved Jon and her ever growing family. I will always remember her with great fondness. Rest in Peace, my friend. My condolences to her family and friends. She was one of a kind!

  3. Vicky “Nanny” will forever be remembered by me as such a special part of our devoted cheer “Elite” family. She and Jon never missed a single moment, and it was so clear how much she loved her grandkids and every one of those cheer kids. ❤️
Nanny was the center of her family and taught those kids so much about love, respect, and how to care for one another. We always knew when Ms Vicky was around because kids were on their best behavior but we all shared some good laughs. 😂 She loved them all like they were her own.
I had so much respect for Vicky and truly admired the beautiful bond she shared with her family. The love story between her and Jon was something truly special.
I am so sorry for the PanKratz family’s loss. While our hearts hurt, I know exactly where Vicky is now—and it is beautiful. ❤️🙏
Thank you, PanKratz family, for sharing your precious “Nanny” with all of us. She will never be forgotten. 💕
    Love, Christi
