Paul Willard Butler

Paul Willard Butler passed away on July 11th, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on December 14, 1954, in Fort Scott, Kansas, he was the beloved son of Warnie Allen Butler and Mildred Butler.

Paul is survived by his two sons, Warnie Allen Butler and Zachary Andrew Butler, who will forever cherish the memories, wisdom, and unconditional love their Father shared with them.

For more than three decades, Paul dedicated his career to the aviation industry as a precision machinist for Boeing and later Spirit AeroSystems. From 1977 until his retirement in 2010, he earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, technical expertise, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His work reflected a level of precision and pride that was respected by everyone who knew him professionally.

Away from work, Paul had a passion for learning and a deep appreciation for American history. He was an avid history buff who could spend hours reading, researching, and sharing stories about the people and events that shaped our nation. He also enjoyed spending weekends exploring flea markets and antique shops, playing pinball, fishing, and searching for unique treasures.

Paul was a true free spirit and an independent thinker. He saw the world through his own lens and never hesitated to question, learn, or seek understanding. Family and friends knew him as someone whose advice was thoughtful, honest, and grounded in experience. Whether someone needed practical guidance or simply a listening ear, Paul always had wisdom to offer. Above all else, his greatest joy was spending time with his two boys, creating memories that will remain with them forever.

Paul will be remembered for his intelligence, curiosity, remarkable work ethic, generous spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Paul’s memory to Six Feet Over Lemon-Aid Kansas, a local Sedgwick County nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by suicide. Through grief support, suicide prevention, education, and compassionate community outreach, the organization provides hope and healing to those navigating the unimaginable loss of a loved one. It is the family’s hope that any memorial gifts will help ensure these vital local resources remain available to others when they need them most.
