Joanne Marie (Honer) Taylor

Joanne Marie Taylor, 89, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 19, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, Joanne was the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Honer. She was a lifelong resident of Wichita and a woman whose greatest joy and purpose in life was her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Joanne was known for her unwavering love, kindness, and willingness to always put others before herself.

Joanne graduated from Wichita North High School in 1955 and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Taylor, in 1956. Together they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories.

Throughout her life, Joanne enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, and traveling with family and friends. She was also an accomplished artist and painter whose creativity brought beauty and joy to those around her. Joanne retired from Boeing after 25 years of dedicated service.

Joanne is survived by her son, Steve Taylor and his wife, Kathy Taylor; her brother, John Honer and his wife, Linda Honer; her granddaughters, Stephanie Weakley and her husband, John Weakley; and Jennifer Young and her husband, Ben Young.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved great-grandchildren: Blake, Bailey, and Brooke Weakley, children of Stephanie and John; and Hunter and Garrett Young, children of Jennifer and Ben.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Taylor; her parents, Walter and Dorothy Honer; her sisters, Reba Jean and Phyllis Honer; and her grandson, Brent Taylor.

Joanne’s love and devotion to the people around her, her generous spirit, and her kind and caring disposition touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. The family asks that Joanne be remembered for the love she shared, the kindness she showed, and the lasting impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her.
