Claudine H. Wald

Claudine H. Wald, 81, died July 28, 2026.

Often people have many passions in their lives, Claudine’s were simple, family and the Church. These two served as guideposts for her life. She married, gave her children a firm foundation in the Catholic faith, and prioritized time with family. Tajchman Thanksgivings, Mestan annual reunions and especially holidays were always spent with family. Her hobbies revolved around faithfully attending her children’s sports, and scout activities from youth through college while working full time for her second passion, the Catholic Church. She served the Diocese of Wichita for many, many years with more than 30 years serving as secretary to the Bishops’ of Wichita. Other interests were bicycling, gardening, camping, enjoying her grand and great-grandchildren; but most of all KANSAS Jayhawks basketball!

Rosary will be at 9:30 am, Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, both Friday, July 31, 2026, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

Claudine is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Henrietta Tajchman; sister, Ella Mae Stika; sister-in-law, Paula Tajchman.

She is survived by husband, Robert Wald; children, Greg (Miranda) Wald, Michelle (Jacquie Reaves) Wald; grandchildren, Kirsten (Josh) Bird, Gregory Wald, Harrison (Sydney) Wald, Halen Wald; great-grandchildren, Hazel, Jade, Cecilia, Charlotte, Amelia; Siblings, Paul (Mary Jane) Tajchman, Marvin (Carol) Tajchman, Lloyd Tajchman.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with: The Lord’s Diner, 520 North Broadway Street, Wichita, Kansas 67214.
